Help Now is not an emergency service
Help Now sends a message to people you have chosen. It cannot guarantee that anyone will see it, answer it, or be able to help. It does not contact emergency services, and no clinician, counselor, or trained responder monitors it.
If you are in immediate danger, call 911. If you need to speak to someone trained, call or text 988 for the Suicide & Crisis Lifeline. Both are one tap away inside the app, at every moment, whether or not you have a subscription.
Who can use it
You must be 13 or older. You are responsible for the accuracy of what you enter, including your own mobile number and the numbers of the people you invite.
Your circle
Only add someone if you genuinely believe they would want to be there for you. Each person receives one invitation and must actively agree before receiving anything further; they can leave at any time, and we will honor that immediately. Adding a number you are not entitled to use, or adding someone repeatedly after they have opted out, is a misuse of the service and we may close your account for it.
Messages and your carrier
Help Now sends text messages to the people in your circle and to you. Message and data rates may apply for them and for you. Replying STOP to any message stops all further messages to that number. Delivery depends on carriers and networks we do not control.
Subscriptions
- Access is sold as an auto-renewing subscription, monthly or annually.
- Payment is charged to your Apple ID or Google Play account at confirmation.
- It renews automatically unless auto-renewal is turned off at least 24 hours before the period ends.
- Manage or cancel in your Apple ID or Google Play account settings. Deleting the app does not cancel a subscription.
- If a free trial is offered, any unused portion is forfeited when you purchase.
- Refunds are handled by Apple or Google under their policies, not by us.
Sponsored access
If an organization funded your access, it runs for the period they funded and then ends unless you subscribe or they renew. The organization is not told who redeemed a code, and never learns whether or when you asked for help. Your access does not give them any claim over your account or your information.
What we ask of you
- Do not use Help Now to harass, alarm, or repeatedly contact someone who has asked you to stop.
- Do not attempt to access anyone else's account, circle, or requests.
- Do not attempt to circumvent security, rate limits, or the consent process.
Availability
We work to keep Help Now available and fast, and we cannot promise it will never be unavailable. Networks fail, carriers delay messages, phones are off. Do not rely on Help Now as your only plan for a moment of crisis.
Guidance and resources
Help Now publishes general information for people supporting someone they care about, along with a directory of crisis lines. It is general information only. It is not medical, clinical, psychological, or legal advice, it is not tailored to any particular person or situation, and reading it does not create a professional relationship of any kind between you and us.
We are not a healthcare provider. No clinician, counselor, or trained responder reviews your circumstances, and nothing we publish should be used in place of advice from a qualified professional who knows the person involved. Situations differ, guidance that helps one person can be wrong for another, and only you can judge what is happening in front of you.
We take care over what we publish and cite our sources, and we cannot warrant that it is complete, current, or right for your situation. Phone numbers and services change, and published guidance can go out of date. If you are deciding what to do in a real situation, contact a professional or one of the crisis lines listed.
If someone is in immediate danger, call 911. If someone needs to speak to trained help, call or text 988. Do not delay contacting emergency services in order to read anything we publish.
Liability
To the fullest extent the law allows, Help Now is provided as is, and we are not liable for indirect or consequential loss arising from your use of it, from a message that was delayed or not delivered, from a supporter who did not respond, or from any decision taken in reliance on general information we publish. Nothing here limits liability that cannot lawfully be limited.
Ending your account
You can delete your account at any time from Settings; see deleting your account. We may suspend or close an account that misuses the service, particularly where that misuse affects someone else's safety or consent.
Changes
We will give notice in the app before a material change takes effect.
